RSAA/SOAS Schools’ Day 2026
4 November 2026
The RSAA and SOAS are once again delighted to offer Sixth Form students the opportunity to hear from expert speakers and take part in introductory classes in Asian languages. The annual Schoolsโ Day has been running for over twenty years. This free event is open to students in Year 12 and Year 13.
Its aim is to introduce students to ideas, regions, and disciplines that may not yet be part of their school curriculum, and to inspire a deeper interest in Asia and its global significance. Asia is a vast and dynamic region, yet media coverage is often limited or superficial. Our programme seeks to move beyond the headlines, exploring both current โhot topicsโ and broader educational themes.
The day features a series of varied presentations, each followed by time for discussion. All speakers are experts in their fields, offering insights that students are unlikely to encounter in a typical school setting. While speakers provide accessible introductions to their topics, talks are aimed at a level between school-leaver and undergraduate study, treating participants as young adults preparing for further study and engagement with complex ideas.
Students will also have the opportunity to sample an Asian language in an introductory class led by SOAS lecturers, typically including Arabic or Mandarin.
More details to follow soon.
