AGM, Lord Denman Memorial Lecture and 125th Anniversary Reception

The Society will hold its Annual General Meeting on 15 July at the Society of Chemical Industry, Belgrave Square. It will be followed by the Lord Denman Memorial Lecture, where we will be honoured to welcome the Right Honourable Baroness Warsi PC as our speaker. The title of her talk will be “Muslims don’t Matter”, following the theme of her 2024 book of the same title.
Baroness Warsi was the UK’s first Muslim member of the Cabinet. She was co-chairwoman of the Conservative Party and Minister Without Portfolio from 2010 to 2012, then Senior Minister of State in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and later Minister of State for Faith and Communities. She resigned in 2014 citing disagreement with the then Government’s policy on the Israel–Gaza conflict. In 2024, she resigned from the Conservative Party and now sits in the House of Lords as a Cross-Bencher.
To mark the 125th anniversary of the Society, Baroness Warsi’s lecture will be followed by a reception with canapes, wine and music.
