Discover the diversity of tropical Kerala and the culture and architecture of Tamil Nadu on this holiday to India's far south. We stroll amongst the forests and grasslands of the mountainous Western Ghats - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's top ten biodiversity 'hot spots'. We also walk in search of elephant and other wildlife in the Periyar National Park and explore the temples and markets of Madurai. In the tranquil backwaters we ramble through villages, sit with the locals, cook handed-down recipes and spend a night aboard a coir-roofed houseboat. The itinerary is peppered with unique culinary experiences which include master-classes in cooking, visits to local markets, meals with local families to enjoy traditional south Indian food and very special cultural traditions involving food.
