Following the collapse of the so-called Islamic State, Iraq is beset by a host of social and political challenges. Foremost amongst these is mass population displacement, creating a major barrier to local and national reconstruction. As displaced communities return to their homes, tensions between local political factions, former ISIL fighters and local communities run high.
