The Last British Evacuation of Kabul
Sir Francis Humphrys was Britain’s first Minister in Kabul since the assassination that sparked the Second Anglo-Afghan War. Humphrys remained in Kabul until February 1929 and his eight photographic albums show the construction of Curzon’s Legation (now in Pakistan), the political history of Amanullah’s reign, and of his overthrow and abdication in 1929.
