We are delighted to anounce that, with effect from 1 February 2022, the Chairman of the Society is Sophie Ibbotson, the first woman to fill the role in the Society’s history.
Sophie has been a member of the RSAA since 2003 and has served in the past on the Society’s Council. She has been a member of the present Board of Trustees since 2021. She has extensive experience of Central Asia and of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in particular, advising the governments of both. She is also a consultant to the World Bank.
